Together they have yet to find the winning formula, and at Class 5 — the most accessible level of British racing — Our Misty Blue has run three times and come up short on each occasion. Class 5 is essentially the entry-level tier, the place where horses with modest profiles compete, so the lack of a result there underlines how tough things have been.

Lawrence Mullaney's yard in Newark, Nottinghamshire has sent out two winners this season, so the operation is capable of landing races. Our Misty Blue, though, has not been among them. The horse raced just one day ago, so the yard are clearly persevering and keeping it active. The question now is whether a change of surface, trip, or tactics can unlock something that nine races have not yet revealed. It does happen — some horses take time to find their feet. But right now, Our Misty Blue is a horse that needs to show the world something new.
