A win rate of 22%, roughly 2 in every 9 races, may not sound eye-catching on paper, but the places alongside it tell a fuller story: this horse is rarely out of contention. On normal ground specifically, it has won 2 from 4 races — a 50% win rate that makes the surface preference about as clear as it gets in sport.

The distance range of a mile and three furlongs to a mile and four furlongs is clearly where Omni Man finds its best gear. Two wins from five races at those trips — 40% — confirms it needs a proper test of stamina to really showcase what it can do. Short of that distance, it likely never quite gets into its stride. Over it, you have a horse that knows exactly what it is doing.

It raced just a day ago, meaning this is a horse in the thick of its season right now. Whether it can rediscover that Goodwood peak will be the question worth watching.
