The recent form makes for interesting reading. Reading right to left — from oldest to newest — you see a third, a fifth, a seventh, a fourth, then the win, and most recently a ninth. That ninth-place finish, just one day ago, is the latest chapter, and it is too soon to draw firm conclusions from it. What the sequence does show is a horse capable of placing and winning at the right trip, but one that can also disappoint. At this stage of a three-year-old's career, that inconsistency is not unusual — plenty of horses this age are still working out what they are.
The trainer behind Ohara is Eve Johnson Houghton, who operates out of Blewbury in Oxfordshire. With 42 winners already on the board this season, Johnson Houghton is clearly in fine form, and that is worth noting — a yard firing on all cylinders is always a good sign for the horses in its care. Ohara has not won since that Pontefract success seven months ago, but with a trainer in this kind of shape and a horse that clearly has a preferred trip, it would be unwise to write off the prospect of adding to that tally before the season is out.
