That single win came at Ayr on 28 April 2025, and it remains the standout moment of what has been a patchy career so far. Since then, the form figures make for sobering reading — finishes of 16th, 7th, and 6th suggest a horse that has struggled to recapture that level. Racing just yesterday, Nuevo Slovo is clearly still being kept busy, and the team are clearly looking for the right opportunity to spark another run at the winner's enclosure.

The horse is trained by Simon Pearce, who operates out of Newmarket in Suffolk — one of the most famous training centres in the world, home to dozens of yards and thousands of horses. Pearce's yard has sent out 5 winners already this season, which suggests a team in decent form, even if Nuevo Slovo hasn't yet been the one to contribute to that tally. At 3 years old, there is still time for this horse to develop and find a race that suits — some horses simply take a while to work out what they enjoy and where they perform best. Ayr, on the west coast of Scotland, proved a happy hunting ground once. Whether it can be again is one of the more intriguing questions hanging over this young horse's season.
