The fact that the horse finished tenth in its most recent outing before bouncing back to win and then place again suggests there is a horse here that can shake off a bad day and come back swinging — always a useful quality.

The trainer behind all this is Michael Dods, who operates out of Piercebridge in County Durham. With 43 winners already on the board this season, Dods is clearly running a yard in fine fettle right now. When a trainer is firing in winners at that kind of rate, the horses in their care tend to be well-placed and well-prepared — and Northern Brave looks like one worth keeping an eye on as the season continues.
