Nola Soul

The horse announced itself properly on 15 May at Leopardstown with a debut victory, then backed that up with a win at Ascot on 18 June. Those are not minor tracks; Ascot especially is one of Britain's premier racing venues, and to win there at two years old speaks to genuine ability rather than early-season fluff. The most recent three races tell a slightly more complicated story—a fourth place followed by back-to-back successes—but the trajectory still points upward. That fourth-place finish two months ago has not dented confidence; J A Stack's yard at Golden, in County Tipperary, has sent out 12 winners already this season and clearly believes in this one.

The concern, if there is one, is the gap. Two months between that Ascot win and the races that followed suggests either a layoff or a run of races against tougher opposition. Yet the horse bounced back immediately to win its last two starts. At this stage of its career, with so little experience behind it, Nola Soul remains a genuinely unknown quantity—but an enormously promising one.
