The most encouraging sign in the data is that third-place finish, which at least shows No Panic can get involved at the business end of a race. But the more recent efforts — finishing fourth, then ninth, then eleventh — suggest the horse may be going the wrong way. Racing just yesterday, this is very much a work in progress.
No Panic is trained by Jeremy Scott, whose yard in Brompton Regis, Somerset has sent out 20 winners this season — so there is clearly ability in the team to get horses winning. The question is whether Scott can unlock whatever is needed to get this particular horse to the line first. At Class 4, which is mid-table level in British racing, No Panic has run three times without winning. That is not a disgraceful level to be competing at, but at some point a horse needs to convert promise into a result. For now, the name remains more aspiration than reality.
