The most recent form makes for mixed reading. A third-place finish is sandwiched between some distant efforts, including a couple of ninth-place showings and a tenth. That single placing is genuinely the bright spot in an otherwise quiet career. Most of its races have come at Class 5 level, which is the entry-level tier of British racing — the easiest bracket available — and New Objective has yet to win any of its three races at that grade. When a horse can't find a win at the bottom of the ladder, it raises honest questions about where a breakthrough might come from.
Kevin Frost, based at Averham Park in Nottinghamshire, trains the horse. The yard has had 25 winners this season, so there is clearly ability on the premises to get horses to the front. The fact that New Objective hasn't managed it yet is more likely a reflection of the horse's individual journey than any lack of know-how from the team. Frost will know better than anyone where the gaps are, and with the horse still racing — it ran just yesterday — the search for that elusive first win is very much ongoing.
