Never Let Go

The big moment came at Royal Ascot on 20 June 2025, when she landed a Class 2 race — one of the top races in the country — in a performance Walker described as a peach from jockey Kieran Shoemark. What makes the story richer is how close she came to never getting there at all. Walker had been desperate to run her at Ascot but she needed to qualify, and after failing to win at Wetherby or Haydock, the door looked like it was closing. The solution was a tactical detour: a Listed race where she finished runner-up, close enough to pick up what is called black type — a form of prestige on a horse's record — and crucially, enough of a ratings rise to squeeze into the Ascot field. It worked perfectly.

That resourcefulness from the Walker yard is worth noting. Based at Upper Lambourn in Berkshire, the team has sent out 80 winners this season alone, which gives a sense of the operation behind this horse. Walker had spoken before Ascot about believing she was well treated by the handicapper despite a 12lb rise in the weights, suggesting he felt the horse had more to offer than her rating implied. The Ascot result vindicated that entirely.

Her first win had come back in December 2024 at Wolverhampton — a long way from a Royal Ascot afternoon — which tells its own story about how far she has travelled in a relatively short time. Her recent form of 6-2-5-2-1-3 shows a horse that runs well more often than not, and having raced just yesterday she is clearly being kept busy. At Class 4 level she wins 1 in every 4 races, but it is at the higher end that she has made her name. Walker's half-finished sentence after Ascot — "I think she can go…" — is the kind of thing that makes people lean in.
