What we do know comes from the family tree. The sire, Expert Eye, was a high-class miler who won a top British race at two and was trained by the brilliant Sir Michael Stoute. Horses by Expert Eye tend to be sharp, relatively quick types who often show ability on their first start. The dam's side brings in Zamindar, a French-bred speed influence. On paper, that is a pedigree built for speed over a mile or less — though how much of that translates to the racecourse is something only Nesthorn can answer.
The trainer, George Baker, is based at Chiddingfold in Surrey and has had a productive season — 16 winners already sent out from the yard, which for a smaller operation is a genuinely solid return. Baker is known for placing his horses thoughtfully, and the fact that he has kept Nesthorn patient until four suggests there may be a specific plan in place rather than a horse that simply took time to grow up. When a yard with that kind of form sends out a first-time runner, it is worth paying attention.
