Ndaawi

The highlight of the career so far came in September 2022, when Ndaawi won a Class 2 race at Epsom Downs — one of the most famous racecourses in Britain, home of the Derby. A Class 2 win means competing against genuinely good horses, so this was not a small thing. It came just weeks after a first career win at Goodwood in August 2022, which meant Ndaawi had gone from opening the account to winning at one of Britain's great tracks in the space of a month. Both races are now a few years in the past, but Ndaawi has remained active and relevant — most recently winning at Cork just this week, in April 2026, which shows the fire is still very much there.

Where Ndaawi really comes alive is on normal ground and at a distance of a mile and a furlong to a mile and two furlongs. On normal conditions, the record reads 3 wins from 6 races — exactly 50%, which is exceptional. At that preferred trip, it is the same story: 2 wins from 4 races, again at 50%. In racing, finding a horse that is genuinely comfortable in specific conditions is half the battle, and Ndaawi clearly has a sweet spot.

The one open question is at the very top level. In 5 races at Class 1 — the elite tier — Ndaawi has yet to win. That is not unusual; the step up in class is steep and the fields are the deepest you will find. Recent form has been mixed, with a win followed by some mid-pack finishes, but a horse that is still winning races at 6 and was successful just this week is clearly not running out of ideas. Jockey Jack Kennedy has partnered Ndaawi in 9 of those 23 races, winning twice — a 22% win rate together, which is a solid partnership by any measure.
