Trained by Richard and Peter Fahey at their Musley Bank yard in North Yorkshire, Navy Light is in capable hands. The Fahey operation has already sent out nine winners this season, which speaks to a yard with plenty of horses in form and a team that knows how to get a horse ready to perform. For a two-year-old who only raced for the first time recently, being placed on one of those two outings is a reasonable start — plenty of horses this age are still finding their feet, and the yard clearly has the firepower to develop a young horse properly.
The second-place finish is the detail worth holding onto. A horse that has already run second has shown it can compete and get close — it just needs things to click at the right moment. With only two races on the clock and the season still active, there is every reason to think Navy Light's first win is a matter of when rather than if.
