The recent form makes for sober reading. Looking at the last six races, the best result is a runner-up finish, but that is sandwiched around a string of mid-pack and back-of-field efforts — placings of 2, 3, 6, 5, 9, and 6. There is enough there to suggest Nakatomi is not disgracing itself every time out, but consistency has been a problem. The horse raced just yesterday, so it is very much an active campaign.
Nakatomi competes at Class 6, which is the entry level of British racing — the pool where horses who have not managed to win at higher grades tend to settle. Winning zero from six races at that level is a tough stat, because this is precisely the company in which a horse like Nakatomi would be expected to have its best chance. Trainer Alan Brown, based at Yedingham in North Yorkshire, has sent out 10 winners this season, so the yard clearly knows how to get a horse into the winner's enclosure. The question is whether Nakatomi can find a way to join them.
