Trained by the celebrated Newmarket partnership of John and Thady Gosden, Mudbir is coming out of one of the busiest and most successful yards in Britain right now. The Gosden operation has sent out 140 winners already this season, so when a horse gets picked out for a big occasion, it means something. That big occasion arrived on 2 August 2025 at Goodwood, where Mudbir won a Class 2 race — one of the top tier of races in Britain. Goodwood is a famously tricky, undulating track that exposes horses quickly, and winning there at that level tells you this is not a horse still finding its feet.
Much of Mudbir's success in the saddle has come with jockey Jim Crowley aboard. Together they have won 3 of their 5 races as a partnership — that is 60%, or 3 in every 5 times they have lined up together. That kind of consistency between horse and rider is not accidental. It suggests Crowley understands exactly how to get the best out of this horse, and the team clearly agrees, given how often they have been paired.
The recent form tells an interesting story too. Looking at the last six races — reading the numbers from most recent to earliest — the sequence runs 2, 2, 7, 1, 1, 5, 1. Three wins are buried in there, and the pair of second-place finishes suggest Mudbir is rarely far away even on an off day. Having raced as recently as yesterday, this is a horse right in the thick of its season. The first win came at Chelmsford in May 2025, the big Goodwood success followed in August, and with the horse still active and in form, there is every reason to think the story is not finished yet.
