At three years old, Mr Noble has already banked a win and a place from his two races, meaning he has finished in the top two on every single outing. That is a 50% win rate, or to put it another way, he wins one in every two races he runs — a figure that most seasoned racehorses never come close to across a long career, let alone at the start of one.

He is trained by K R Burke at Coverham in North Yorkshire, and the numbers from that yard this season are striking: 140 winners sent out. To put that in perspective, plenty of trainers go an entire career without reaching that seasonal total.
