What is worth noting is the trainer in whose hands it sits. Owen Burrows operates out of Lambourn in Berkshire, one of Britain's most respected racing towns, and his yard has sent out 30 winners already this season — a healthy tally that shows the stable is very much in form. Horses trained by people who know how to get winners on the board tend to improve with time and experience, and Mostaan, as a three-year-old, is still a young horse with plenty of racing ahead of it.

For now, though, the record is what it is: no wins, no places, and a pair of mid-pack finishes to its name. The next run — and given it raced just yesterday, that will come in due course — will tell us a little more about which direction this one is heading.
