Trainer J P Murtagh, who runs a productive yard at Coolaghknock Glebe in County Kildare, has sent out 53 winners this season, so the question is whether Morehampton can find his way back to the winner's enclosure under his guidance. Ben Coen, who has ridden the horse six times, has converted that into a win and a respectable 17 per cent win rate together—slightly better than the horse's overall record—suggesting the pair have a working understanding. That single victory at Gowran may have promised more than it delivered, but Morehampton remains active and competing. At three years old, there is still time for the penny to drop, though the recent form—mostly bottom-half finishes—gives little reason for immediate optimism.
