Moonrise is trained by Andrew Balding at his Kingsclere yard in Hampshire, and that is worth paying attention to. Balding's team have sent out 202 winners already this season — a remarkable number that puts them among the most productive yards in the country. When a horse comes out of a yard firing at that volume, it tends to mean they know exactly what they are doing with their horses, picking the right races at the right time. Moonrise landing that Kempton win is very much in keeping with the yard's current form.

Still only two years old and with just two races under its belt, Moonrise is barely getting started. The fact it raced just one day ago means there is likely more to come in the short term, and with a trainer in this kind of form behind it, the next few months could be very interesting indeed.
