Trained by Jack Jones at Newmarket, one of the most competitive training centres in the country, Mooj is in good hands. Jones has sent out 33 winners already this season, which suggests a yard that knows how to get horses ready to perform. Being trained in Newmarket doesn't guarantee anything, but it does mean Mooj is rubbing shoulders with some serious talent in daily work, and that tends to sharpen a young horse up.

At just three years old and with only three races behind them, it would be premature to write Mooj off. Horses at this age are still learning the job, and that upward trajectory — from ninth to fifth to third — is exactly the kind of form pattern that keeps trainers and owners patient.
