At nine years old, Mogwli has been around long enough to know its own mind, and that mind is clearly made up about a few things. It runs best over seven furlongs to a mile, a distance band where it has won 3 from 24 races — roughly one in every eight — which is meaningfully better than its overall career rate of 5 wins from 60 races, or about 1 in every 12. The yard itself is in decent form, having sent out 21 winners already this season, so the platform is there if Mogwli decides to contribute.

Jockey Megan Telford-Kelly has become Mogwli's most regular partner, winning twice from 20 races together — a 10% win rate, or 1 in every 10 rides. That is a modest number on paper, but given that the horse's overall career rate is just 8%, it represents the best that anyone has reliably coaxed out of it. The partnership clearly has a working understanding of each other.

The honest truth is that recent form makes for uncomfortable reading. Mogwli's last six finishes read 5-15-14-12-11-13 going backwards from its best, and the solitary fifth place — achieved just seven months ago at Bellewstown, where it last won in October 2025 — stands out like a lighthouse against a dark stretch of results. The current sequence without a win now stretches well beyond those six races, and the finishing positions in the most recent outings suggest a horse finding life hard at present.

But Mogwli raced just a day ago, which means it is still active, still in training, and still in the mix. When that horse turns up at Bellewstown again, the record says pay attention. Three wins from five races at one course is the kind of thing that only happens when horse and venue are genuinely made for each other.
