The recent form makes for interesting reading, though. Strip away the blanks and the mid-pack finishes in the most recent six outings and you'll notice back-to-back wins sitting right in the middle of that sequence — two straight victories that suggest Miss Oreo can absolutely produce on the day. The problem has been finding that form consistently. Four places from 22 races tells you she has been competitive often enough, but converting those near-misses into wins has proven elusive.

In the saddle most regularly is Mr Paddy Hanlon, who has partnered her nine times without a winner between them. That is not necessarily a damning statistic — Miss Oreo's win rate overall is just 5% — but nine rides together with no return does underline how hard those victories have been to come by. She is trained by John Joseph Hanlon at Bagenalstown in Co Carlow, a yard that has been in decent form this season, sending out 11 winners. The yard clearly knows how to win races; Miss Oreo simply has not been the one doing it lately.

She raced just one day ago, so she is firmly in the mix and clearly being kept busy. The question for anyone watching her is whether those back-to-back wins from a few runs back represent the real Miss Oreo, or whether the long winless run since Fairyhouse in 2023 tells the truer story. At eight, she is an experienced campaigner who knows her job — but repeating that Fairyhouse moment is starting to feel like a long time coming.
