Medyg

Based at Upper Lambourn in Berkshire, Medyg is trained by Edward Smyth-Osbourne, whose yard has hit the ground running this season with 8 winners already on the board — a healthy return that speaks to a stable in decent form. Having an active, race-fit horse in a yard that is clearly firing is no bad thing, and Medyg raced as recently as yesterday, so fitness is not a question mark heading into whatever comes next.

The bulk of Medyg's racing has come at Class 5 level — the bread-and-butter tier of British racing, where the fields are competitive but the horses are not yet operating at the top end of the sport. Going winless from 3 races at that level means there is work still to do, but at just three years old, there is time on Medyg's side. Plenty of horses take a handful of races to find their stride, and the runner-up finish shows the talent is there in some measure. The next few months will tell us whether that placing was a glimpse of things to come or simply a good day among tougher ones.
