Maxicourt

The recent run of form makes for difficult reading. Over the last six races, Maxicourt has finished ninth, missed one race entirely, then crossed the line tenth, fourteenth, fifth, and seventh. That fifth-place finish stands out as the bright spot — a hint that the ability is somewhere in there — but a fourteenth suggests there are days when things simply don't click. With zero wins from twelve attempts, Maxicourt is yet to convert any of that promise into a result.

What keeps this interesting is that Maxicourt raced just yesterday and is clearly still in active training. The team obviously believe there is a race to be won somewhere, and at five years old there is still time. Plenty of horses take a while to find their feet, and two placed finishes at least suggest Maxicourt has not been completely outclassed. The first win, when it comes, will have been a long time coming — and perhaps all the sweeter for it.
