His trainer K P De Foy, based at Newmarket, has found success elsewhere this season with 40 winners, and the stable has clearly maintained faith in the horse despite his long absence from the winner's enclosure. Maxi King raced last just a day ago, confirming he remains active and ready to run. At six years old and still improving over the right trip on the right ground, he has time to recapture his best form—if the yard can find him a race where wet conditions and a distance of around a mile and a quarter converge.
