Marambo

The recent results tell a mixed story. In the last six outings, Marambo has shown some promise — finishing fourth twice and fifth once — but has also struggled badly, with placings of 13th, 12th, and 10th. That inconsistency is the real problem. When a horse is finishing in the frame one race and then well off the pace the next, it suggests the form is still fragile. With no wins yet from six attempts, Marambo hasn't found the right race at the right time, though the fact that it's already finished as high as fourth suggests it has some ability to work with. At four years old, time isn't entirely on its side — most horses that are going to be winners have found the winners' enclosure by now — but stranger things happen in racing. The next few races will be crucial in determining whether this one can finally break through or if it's simply operating at a level where winning is going to be a real stretch.
