On genuinely heavy, waterlogged tracks, it has won 3 of its 5 races — that's 60% of the time, a number that would make any trainer sit up straight. Most horses tolerate bad weather. Maciver seems to relish it, thriving in the kind of conditions that have other horses slipping and struggling. That preference isn't a quirk — it's a genuine weapon.

Add to that a fondness for Limerick racecourse, where Maciver has won 2 of its 4 races. Winning half your races at a particular track is the sort of consistency that earns a horse a reputation, and Limerick's layout clearly suits. The most recent of those wins came on 13 March 2025, just over 13 months ago, so it's not ancient history — this horse can still deliver on its best day.
