Lucky In Taipan

The recent form tells a story of inconsistency. A seventh-place finish came just a day ago, but before that there were sixth-place efforts and thirteenth-place runs. When a horse cannot string together even a couple of respectable finishes in a row, it suggests the form is fragile. The gaps in that record hint at races missed, too — either through injury, scheduling, or simply needing time between efforts.

Ben Pauling's yard at Naunton has been in excellent form this season with 91 winners, so Lucky In Taipan is at least in capable hands. But the horse has tried Class 4 races four times without winning, competing at a level where a winning record is genuinely needed to justify the entry fees. At this stage, with zero wins from nine races and a recent run coming just yesterday, Lucky In Taipan is very much a horse still hunting for that first breakthrough moment. Whether it arrives, or whether this has simply become a tough campaign, only time will tell.
