That success elsewhere makes this particular horse's struggles harder to square away. At five years old, Lucky Diamond is at an age where most horses either establish themselves as useful sorts or reveal their ceiling. So far, the evidence suggests the ceiling is not very high. With no wins from six races and only a single place to show for the effort, the horse has yet to justify the time and expense being invested in it. Still active and racing just yesterday, Lucky Diamond remains in work—but the question now is whether it can finally deliver a win before the end of the season.
