That sole victory came at Ripon in July 2025, and it was the kind of win that leaves a yard feeling they have something worth persevering with. Jardine, who operates out of Carrutherstown in Dumfries and Galloway and has sent out an impressive 57 winners already this season, describes Lovette as tough and genuine with a nice pedigree — the sort of horse you keep faith with rather than give up on. He also believes she will improve on wetter, softer ground, which is interesting given she has largely been asked to perform on faster surfaces so far.
Her recent form makes for mixed reading: in her last six races the best she has managed is a third-place finish, and she has slipped as far back as eleventh. She races primarily at Class 5 level — the bread-and-butter tier of British racing — and has won 1 from 7 at that level, which works out at around 14%. Not a high conversion rate, but the placing record shows she is competitive. Mohammed Tabti is her regular partner in the saddle, having ridden her in 7 of her 10 races, and together they have that single win to show from a 14% win rate — again modest, but not without promise.
What makes Lovette worth watching is really the trainer's conviction. Jardine is not a man throwing out empty compliments — his yard's current season speaks for itself. When a trainer of that output says a horse has room to improve with age and better ground conditions, it is worth taking seriously. She is only four, she has already shown she can win, and if Jardine finds a race on a soft, wet track this autumn, Lovette could easily be filling her first winner's enclosure since that July afternoon at Ripon.
