Loup De Tallane

The two career wins do at least show what Loup De Tallane is capable of on a good day. The first came at Wexford back in October 2022, and the second — the most recent — at Kilbeggan in September 2024. That Kilbeggan win is now twenty months in the rear-view mirror, which is a long gap. In racing terms, twenty months without a win is a significant drought, and it raises a natural question about whether another one is coming or whether that Kilbeggan day was the last hurrah.

Jockey Ricky Doyle has been the regular partner, taking the ride in six of Loup De Tallane's races without managing to get the horse into the winner's enclosure — 0 wins from 6 together. That's not necessarily a reflection on either of them individually, but it does suggest the combination hasn't yet found its spark. Trainer Eoin Griffin, based in Slieverue in County Kilkenny, has had eight winners on the board this season, so the yard is clearly capable of getting horses to win. The puzzle is getting Loup De Tallane back among them. With a race just yesterday, the team are clearly keeping this horse active and looking for the right opportunity — sometimes that persistence is exactly what it takes.
