Since then, she has gone six races without getting back to the winner's enclosure, and her recent form figures — finishing 9th, well behind the leaders, 4th, then two 12th-place finishes and an 8th — suggest she is currently going through a difficult spell. One place finish in those six outings is about as much as can be said for her current momentum.

Her best performances tend to come over distances between seven furlongs and a mile, where she has won 1 race from 12 — a rate of about 1 in 12, or 8%. That is still modest, but it at least tells you where her trainer is most likely to aim her if they are looking for the conditions most likely to suit. Jockey Killian Leonard has partnered her six times without a win between them, so that particular combination has yet to click.

Lorr's Girl raced just yesterday, which means she is firmly in training and her story is still being written. Whether another winning day is around the corner is hard to say — the evidence so far suggests it would be a surprise rather than a certainty. But every horse only needs to find the right race once, and Cork 2024 is proof she can do it.
