Long Gone

Trained by Noel C Kelly out of Draperstown in County Derry, the eight-year-old is part of a yard that has sent out 14 winners already this season — a sign that things are working well at that stable. Kelly clearly knows how to keep a horse ticking over, and Long Gone is a decent example of what the operation can produce.

The horse's first career win came at Limerick in May 2024, and the most recent came at Bellewstown in August 2025 — a track that tends to suit horses who handle a summer evening programme well. That Bellewstown win is now nine months ago, and the recent form shows some inconsistency: a sixth, a pulled-up run, a win, a fourth, a second, and another sixth. That pulled-up run in the mix is worth noting — it breaks what had been a solid run of form — but the horse raced just one day ago, so it is clearly still active and being campaigned regularly.

At 23% across a career of 13 races — roughly 1 win in every 4.5 outings — Long Gone sits at a respectable level without being exceptional. The real interest here is whether the team can find another opportunity that brings out the best in a horse that has already shown it knows how to cross the line first.
