Trained by Anthony McCann out of Castleblaney in County Monaghan, the yard has been in decent nick this season with 7 winners on the board. Little Empire's most recent win came at Dundalk on 21 November 2025 — around five months ago — and the horse has gone six races without winning since. That said, the recent form still shows some encouragement: two second-place finishes and two thirds in those six runs suggest a horse that is competitive and close to the frame, even if the wins have dried up. It raced just yesterday, which makes it about as active as a horse can be.
The one area where results have been harder to explain is at Class 4 level, one step below the upper tier of British racing. Little Empire has run four times at that level without winning — 0 from 4 — which is a curious blank given the talent it has shown elsewhere. Its most regular jockey, Luke McAteer, has also yet to get a win from their five rides together, though the horse's placing record suggests the partnership has come close.
The first career win arrived at Wolverhampton in April 2024, and since then Little Empire has shown it is a horse that saves its best for specific circumstances — the right track, the right day. Ayr in particular seems to bring out something extra. With the yard in form and a horse that is clearly still running well enough to finish in the top three, another win feels more like a matter of time and location than ability.
