Roscommon is a track that suits certain horses well, and Lispopple clearly had his day there — but nearly 19 months have passed since then without another victory, which is a long drought by any standard. His recent form makes for fairly grim reading: blanks in four of his last six runs, though a second place and another win in that sequence suggest he has not completely lost the thread. It is worth noting that the win listed in his recent form and his career win are the same race — so there is no fresh victory hiding in there.

The partnership with jockey Niall Moore has produced nothing from six attempts together, which is not an encouraging picture. Sometimes a jockey-horse combination just does not click, and the numbers here do not argue otherwise. Whether there is another day like that in him is the question worth watching.
