Lilt got started at Doncaster back in October 2025, winning on debut, and then returned this week to win at York on 15 May 2026. York is one of Britain's most prestigious tracks, a place where the best horses tend to shine, so winning there as a 3-year-old is no small thing. The fact that she raced just yesterday means this is very much a story still being written.
Behind her is one of the most powerful yards in the country. William Haggas trains out of Newmarket in Suffolk — the historic home of British racing — and his team have sent out 170 winners already this season alone. That is a remarkable number, and it tells you that horses leaving his yard are well prepared and well placed. When a trainer of that calibre keeps a horse unbeaten, it tends to mean they believe there is something genuinely special to protect.
Two from two is not a sample size that tells you everything, but it tells you something. Lilt has not put a foot wrong yet.
