That Haydock win on 5 September 2025 was her first career victory, and she picked a good moment to announce herself. Class 2 races attract serious competition, so breaking through at that level first time out of the winners' enclosure is a real statement. It suggests there was always ability there waiting to be unlocked.
The recent form figures — 9, 3, 10, 7, 1 reading from most recent back to the debut — show a horse that has been a little inconsistent, finishing well down the field on a couple of occasions before that Haydock breakthrough. What makes those off-days forgivable is that she clearly has the talent to put it all together when conditions suit. She raced just yesterday, so the yard are keeping her busy and clearly have faith in her.
She is trained by Ed Walker at Upper Lambourn, a yard that has been in fine form this season — 80 winners is a substantial tally and reflects a stable firing on all cylinders. When a trainer is sending out winners at that volume, you can have confidence that a horse in their care is being placed thoughtfully and prepared well. For Lightning Polka, still only three years old and with that Haydock win already on her CV, there is every reason to think the best is still ahead.
