What makes this all the more striking is the stable it comes from. Trainer Gavin Cromwell, based in Navan, Co. Meath, has sent out 97 winners this season — a yard clearly operating at a high level and producing results week in, week out. When a trainer is hitting those numbers, it tends to mean the horses that aren't winning are up against stiff competition, or simply haven't found their moment yet. For Let It Settle, that moment has not arrived across nine attempts.
The horse raced just one day ago, so it is very much an active runner, and Cromwell's team clearly hasn't given up on finding the right opportunity. Sometimes it takes patience — a different trip, a different track, a different day. But on current evidence, Let It Settle will need to show something dramatically new to change the story that nine races have written so far.
