Jamie Snowden's yard in Lambourn has been in excellent form this season, sending out 82 winners, and Legendary Luke looks like one of the horses they are genuinely excited about. Snowden has spoken openly about the horse's future, pointing out that he has won both of his races over hurdles so far and that stepping up to longer distances should suit him — he is out of a half-sister to Native River, the 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, which is a serious pedigree pointer towards stamina. Bloodlines are not everything, but when a trainer with 82 winners this season tells you a horse is built to stay, it is worth listening.
His most recent victory came at Fontwell Park on 11 January 2026, and his recent form reads 3-4-1-1-2 — that is two wins sandwiched around a couple of close finishes, which tells you this horse is rarely far away. His first win came at Ffos Las in November 2025, and he has not looked back since. He raced just yesterday, so the team are clearly keeping him busy and in good order.
The destination that has been mentioned is the Grade 2 Prestige Novices' Hurdle at Haydock — a step up in class, but Snowden seems unbothered. Beyond that, the Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival sits on the horizon as a possible target, one of the most prestigious staying hurdle races for younger horses in the calendar. For a horse with just five races under his belt, that is an ambitious trajectory. But then ambition tends to follow horses who win 2 in every 5 races and place in nearly all the rest.
