What does add some intrigue is the stable sending it out. Michael and David Easterby, training out of Sheriff Hutton in North Yorkshire, have hit 53 winners already this season — a productive yard with proven ability to get horses ready to perform. When a yard of that output sends a young horse back out after a break, it is at least worth paying attention to whether they think the conditions are right for a better showing.

At two years old, Lamlash Bay is still at the very beginning of the learning curve. Young horses often need a run or two simply to understand what racing involves, so those first two outings may say more about inexperience than ability. Whether something better is lurking remains to be seen.
