Lake Okeechobee

Trained by Eugene M O'Sullivan, whose yard has sent out 4 winners already this season, Lake Okeechobee is at least in competent hands. O'Sullivan's team are clearly capable of getting horses to win, which means the question hanging over this horse is less about the training and more about whether the right opportunity has come along yet. With only five races on the clock, there is still room for the picture to change — some horses simply take time to find their feet.

That said, the numbers are what they are. No wins from five attempts is a record that needs addressing, and the recent run of double-digit finishing positions makes it hard to build a case for a dramatic turnaround without more evidence. Having raced just three days ago, Lake Okeechobee is clearly being kept busy, and the hope from the yard will be that the right conditions or the right race eventually unlocks something better.
