Her two wins have come at the level she calls home — Class 4 races, which sit in the middle of the sport's pecking order. At that level she has won 2 from 14, which works out at around 1 in every 7, a perfectly respectable record for her grade. Her first win came on Boxing Day 2023 at Wetherby, and assistant trainer Peter Scudamore was quick to suggest afterwards that she had more to offer — that she was improving, that she wanted longer distances, that she had possibilities. He was right, at least in part. She added a second win at Perth in April 2025, her home track in effect given the yard is based just down the road in Milnathort.
The Perth win, though, was thirteen months ago now, and her last six runs read 6-3-4-5-5-2 — close enough to keep her in the conversation, never quite close enough to win. That is the story of her career in miniature. Her regular partner Derek Fox has ridden her eleven times without getting her head in front, which is not a criticism of either horse or jockey so much as a reflection of how tight her margins tend to be. She places, she competes, she just does not quite win.
Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore have had 49 winners from their Perth and Kinross yard this season alone, so they clearly know what they are doing with a horse like this. Lady In The Park may not be the stable star, but in a sport built on attrition and patience, a horse who keeps showing up and keeps finishing in the frame has its own kind of value.
