La Note Verte

The horse has found its place at Listowel, winning two of three races there. That is the kind of course affinity that matters in racing: a horse that runs well at one track often becomes a safer bet when returning to familiar ground and a course layout it understands. Just this week, La Note Verte won at Tramore on August 16th, so the horse is in active racing form right now. The recent run sheet shows a horse that is competitive week in and week out — a second and two thirds in the last six outings, with a blank or two, but nothing that suggests a decline.

The real strength is on normal, standard ground. On fast, dry conditions, La Note Verte has won four of six races, a 67% win rate that is exceptionally high for any horse at any level. Soft or muddy ground appears less favourable, which is useful information for anyone following the horse. Trained by W P Mullins at Muine Bheag in Co Carlow, the horse is part of a yard that has sent out 215 winners this season alone — a powerhouse operation that knows how to place its runners to best effect. For a six-year-old still winning regularly, La Note Verte represents exactly the kind of honest, useful horse that keeps racing interesting: not glamorous, but reliable, and clearly most dangerous when conditions suit.
