The recent form reads 4-2-6, working backwards from today, which tells a slightly mixed story. The runner-up finish is the obvious highlight, but the sixth-place run on debut and a fourth most recently suggest a horse that hasn't quite put it all together yet. That said, three races is a very small sample — plenty of horses take time to find their feet, and a placed effort already in the book gives the team something to build on.

Komodo Rose is trained by T J Kent at Newmarket, one of the most competitive training centres in Britain, where world-class horses and elite yards set the standard every week. Getting noticed at Newmarket takes real ability. Kent's yard has sent out 12 winners already this season, which shows the operation knows how to get horses ready to perform. A first win for Komodo Rose, who raced just yesterday and is clearly being kept busy, looks like the obvious next target — and with a placed run already on the board, it wouldn't be a surprise if it came soon.
