Beckett's team has sent out 109 winners already this season, which is the kind of output that marks out one of the sharper operations in British racing. A yard firing at that rate knows how to place a horse, and the fact that Koala Rose raced just one day ago suggests she is being kept busy and her trainer is actively searching for the right opportunity to get her off the mark.

At this stage of her career, two races is a small sample — plenty of horses take three, four, or five runs to win for the first time. The consistent thirds suggest she has ability; the question is simply whether she can find a bit more, or find a race where the opposition gives her room to show what she is capable of.
