Knockiel Synge

That single career win came at Punchestown in April 2024, now 24 months ago, which is a long time between victories at any level. Punchestown is one of Ireland's most celebrated tracks, so there is something to be said for winning there — but one win in over two years means Knockiel Synge has been more of a nearly horse than a winner since that day. The recent form — finishing second and third in its last two outings before that — at least suggests the competitive edge hasn't gone entirely, even if the winning hasn't followed.

Peter John Flood's yard has sent out just one winner this season, so this is not a powerful operation firing on all cylinders right now. Knockiel Synge raced just yesterday, which means it is very much still part of the active string and being campaigned regularly. At 12, that in itself is worth noting — this is a horse still doing the job, still lining up, still placing. Whether another win is coming is another question, but Knockiel Synge clearly hasn't been put out to pasture yet.
