Keogie

Looking at Keogie's recent form, there are some encouraging signs buried in the numbers. The horse has finished second twice in its last six outings, including just a day ago, and also ran third once. That means three of the last six races have resulted in a place—roughly one in every two runs. The other three races produced finishes of 11th, 8th, and 6th, which suggests Keogie is inconsistent but capable of getting into the frame on its better days. For a young horse that hasn't yet broken through the line first, repeatedly finishing in the money shows that it is competitive enough to run close to the winners, even if it hasn't quite found that last bit of pace needed to get the job done. Whether Keogie is still learning, needs a change of tactics, or is simply a horse that will always be thereabouts without quite winning is the question Meade's yard will be working to answer in the coming weeks.
