What is worth noting is the stable behind it. Clive Cox operates out of Lambourn in Berkshire, one of Britain's most respected training centres, and his yard has sent out 48 winners already this season — a serious output that tells you this is not a small operation. Cox knows how to develop young horses, and a two-year-old coming off a single run is very much a work in progress. An eighth-place finish on debut tells you almost nothing about where a horse might end up; plenty of good horses have been just as unimpressive at this stage before going on to better things. There simply is not enough to go on yet, and that is entirely normal for a horse this age and this inexperienced.
Keep Kicking On is one to watch rather than judge. The name, if nothing else, feels appropriate.
