His career began to take shape on a Friday in November 2024, when he won at Ascot — not the easiest place to announce yourself, but a track that carries real prestige. Jockey Jonathan Burke, who has ridden him in 7 of his 11 races and won 3 of them together (that's a 43% win rate for a partnership, which is exceptional), put the significance of that day plainly: any horse that can win at Ascot has a certain level of ability. That is not an empty compliment. It is a track that finds out horses quickly.

Twelve months on, Kdeux Saint Fray took things a step further, winning at Cheltenham in November 2025 — one of the most demanding and celebrated racecourses in the world. His best performances have come in Class 3 company, where he has won 2 of his 4 races at that level — a 50% win rate that is hard to argue with. That is the grade where trainers test whether a horse genuinely belongs among the better animals, and Kdeux Saint Fray has passed that test convincingly.

Anthony Honeyball, who trains him from Mosterton in Dorset and has sent out 51 winners already this season — a yard clearly in excellent form — has spoken enthusiastically about what comes next. After the Cheltenham win, he outlined a plan that builds steadily toward something bigger: a return to Cheltenham for Trials Day in January, with the suggestion that a strong run there could point the horse toward the Cheltenham Festival itself. That is not something trainers say idly. His recent form, though the last two runs produced a seventh and a twelfth, does not suggest a horse who is done — just one who may be being managed carefully toward a specific target. Raced as recently as yesterday, Kdeux Saint Fray remains very much a horse in the middle of his story.
