The problem is, more hasn't come — at least not in the win column. That Huntingdon success was now 31 months ago, and across her last 6 races she has finished seventh, fourth, second, fifth, ninth, and once failed to complete. The second place shows she's still competitive enough to threaten, but she hasn't been able to close the deal. At Class 4 level — the bread and butter of the British racing calendar, one rung above the very bottom — she has won just 1 of 7 races (14%), which tells you this isn't a horse being asked to do anything beyond her station. She simply hasn't converted.

Her most consistent jockey partnership is with Tom Cannon, who has been aboard for 7 of her 13 races and was in the saddle for both wins — a record of 2 from 7 together, which works out to wins in roughly 1 in every 3 or 4 rides. That's a meaningful number, and it suggests the combination has something. The yard itself is in decent nick too: Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero have sent out 43 winners this season from their Cheshire base, so this isn't a struggling operation. Kay Tara Tara, now 8 years old and racing as recently as yesterday, remains active and in the mix. The question is whether the spark that lit up Huntingdon in 2023 is still there, waiting for the right conditions to catch again.
