So far, there is not much to go on. Kalahari Flame has run once, finishing ninth, just one day ago. That is it — one race, no wins, no place. At this stage, drawing conclusions would be unfair and premature. Two-year-olds are essentially teenagers finding their feet, and a single run tells you very little about where a horse might end up. Some of the best horses in training looked unremarkable in their first outing.
What matters now is how Kalahari Flame comes out of that debut and what Cunha decides to do next. With a yard firing on all cylinders, the support around this horse is encouraging. The story is just beginning.
